The strongest stone countertop on the market

Quartz has become a popular choice for today’s homes with hundreds of colours and patterns to choose from. All quartz products we provide are made from 93% crushed quartz, a natural mineral, and 7% resins and pigments (colour). At least twice as strong as its stone counterparts, quartz is a virtually maintenance-free surface. Save yourself the hassle of scratches, chips, cracks or resealing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are quartz countertops food safe?

Quartz is the only stone countertop certified for use in commercial kitchens. Non-porous, quartz is impenetrable by bacteria. Wipe it down with water and mild soap, and you’re ready to prep food.

All Quartz products we provide are NSF 51 Certified for food and splash zones in commercial kitchens.
* NSF International is The Public Health and Safety Company™

Do quartz countertops scratch, chip or crack?

Quartz is considered a natural stone and is made of 93% natural quartz particulate, so it can scratch, chip or crack – but it is 2 times less likely to do so then any other stone product on the market. If it does get damaged there are ways that it can be fixed and or repaired.

How does quartz colouring compare to natural stones, like granite?

Quartz is made of natural stone which means the colour and patterns can vary slightly. However, thanks to its controlled manufacturing process, it offers more colour and pattern consistency than its natural stone counterparts, like granite

Can quartz be used for surfaces other than countertops?

Yes it can be. Quartz (depending on the brand) can vary from 1cm, 2cm or 3cm in thickness which allows for many different applications including but not limited to:

  • Kitchen and Vanity Backsplash (including full height backsplash)
  • Fireplace Surrounds/Hearths/Mantles
  • Tub Decks
  • Shower Walls/Benches
  • Sills and Thresholds
How big are quartz slabs?

The most common and standard quartz slab is 120”x 55” with a usable surface of 119”x 54”. However there are certain quartz brands that produce some colours in what we call a ‘Jumbo Slab’. The following brands produce Jumbo Slabs in limited colours. Contacts us for additional info.

  • Caesarstone: Usable Surface 130” x 63”
  • Silestone: Usable Surface 127” x 62”
  • Hanstone: Usable Surface 129” x 64”

Care, Maintenance & Warranty

Clean your quartz countertops with water and mild soap daily.

Naturally glossy, quartz maintains its lustre without a sealant – but proper care will extend the lifetime of its lustre.

Place a hot pad or trivet under hot pot and pans.

Quartz is heat resistant up to 300ºF, but can be damaged with quick changes in temperature.

Use a cutting board under knives.

Quartz is scratch resistant, but can be damaged by knives and sharp edges.

Clean up spills immediately.

Residues can bind to the surface and build up overtime, leaving a haze and or potential dull spots. Clean up all spills in a timely manner.

Use mild cleaners and sponges.

Abrasive cleaners can damage quartz. Use mild cleaners and non-scratch sponges.

We are proud to back our product and our service. We provide a two-year installation warranty on our quartz countertops, as well as product manufacturers warranties – and we’ll happily act as a liaison on your behalf in the rare occurrence of a product defect.

Colonial Countertops were awesome to work with, and the job was perfect – we are so happy with the results! They left the kitchen cleaner than when they arrived.
